What We Play
The Hampshire Hammerers are a Games Workshop-focussed wargaming community.
We have core groups that play:
- Warhammer 40k
- Age of Sigmar
- Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game
We also have players that cover the rest of the Games Workshop range too, with dedicated tables available at each of our Club Nights.
If there is a game you don't see here, or if you want to come along and try out something new we have sets for lots of games you can use for free too.
Warhammer 40k
About
Warhammer 40,000 (sometimes colloquially called Warhammer 40K, WH40K or 40k) is a miniature wargame produced by Games Workshop. It is the most popular miniature wargame in the world.
It is the premier product in the GW lineup, balancing deep strategy, lore, and competitive play. Easy to get into and challenging to master, it offers a complete tabletop experience for newcomers and veterans alike.
At The Club
We have one of the most significant 40K communities in the local area, with strong connections to regional tournaments and 40K hobby groups.
We also have a thriving competitive scene, with many players representing the club at events across the UK.
Age of Sigmar
About
Games Workshop's high fantasy offering, Age of Sigmar lets players experience great battles between vast hordes of Orruks, armies of Elves and everything in between.
With the release of 4th edition in 2024, now is a great time to dive into AoS, with its stunning miniature range and easy to grasp rules.
At The Club
Hampshire Hammerers was originally founded as an Age of Sigmar club, and the AoS community here is thriving.
Currently we are running a Matched Play League, as well as a path to glory campaign for our narrative gamers.
We welcome any new members who share our passion for Age of Sigmar and the hobby at large!

Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game
About
Themed on Tolkien's Middle Earth, this game is based on the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit.
It offers a great balance of depth and simplicity, and is a great game for beginners and veterans alike. Armies range from the classic Minas Tirith or Rohan forces, through to Ents, Eagles and Monsters of the Depth of Moria.
At The Club
We have one of the largest Middle Earth communities in the UK, and meet weekly at Club Nights to play games, paint models and chat about the hobby.
Great British Hobbit League
Hampshire Hammerers host multiple official GBHL tournaments each year, which range form very competitive GBHL100 events, down to casual tournaments which are great for new players.
Specialist Games
Games Workshop's Specialist Games are a collection of immersive and highly thematic tabletop games that explore unique aspects of the Warhammer universes, offering diverse gameplay experiences ranging from skirmish battles to epic conflicts.
Our club boasts a vibrant and passionate community of hobbyists who regularly engage in thrilling specialist games, whether through exciting one-off games, or as a part of an immersive narrative campaign, or competitive league.
Hampshire Hammerers offer support to our community of gamers by assisting with their campaigns and leagues by offering dedicated space at club nights or hosting weekend events.
We also have an extensive collection of club owned terrain and box sets that are free to use if there is something you want to try out.
Necromunda
Necromunda is a skirmish-based tabletop game by Games Workshop, set in the gritty, dystopian underworld of the Warhammer 40,000 universe, where rival gangs battle for dominance in tactical, narrative-driven scenarios.
Kill Team
Kill Team is a fast-paced skirmish game set by Games Workshop, set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, where players command elite squads in tactical, narrative-rich missions filled with strategy and intense combat.
Warcry
Warcry is a dynamic skirmish game by Games Workshop, set in the Warhammer Age of Sigmar universe, where warbands clash in fast-paced, cinematic battles driven by strategy and rich storytelling.
Combat Patrol and Spearhead
Combat Patrol and Spearhead are streamlined Warhammer 40,000 and Age of Sigmar game modes by Games Workshop.
Designed for quick, tactical battles using compact forces in Combat Patrol or larger, fast-moving mechanized units in Spearhead, offering accessible and dynamic gameplay experiences.
Blood Bowl
Blood Bowl is a chaotic and comedic fantasy sports game by Games Workshop, combining strategic gameplay and brutal combat as teams of diverse races compete in a violent parody of American football.
Adeptus Titanicus
Adeptus Titanicus is an epic-scale tabletop game by Games Workshop, where players command towering god-machines called Titans in strategic battles for supremacy, set against the backdrop of the Horus Heresy.
Horus Heresy: Legions Imperialis

We host special sessions for new members, can help you get paired up with other players, and have plenty of sets for most games that you can use for free, to dip your toe in before committing to your own models and armies.
